JOB PURPOSE:
The key purpose of the Director of Learning is to work with the Assistant Principals supporting the operational leadership of the Academy by providing effective management for standards of achievement of all students within the curriculum area group or Grade-Level department.
With the Assistant Principals, the post-holder will (i) assist with policy and make a significant contribution to the overall planning and development for maximum student success and (ii) realise the ethos of an IB learning organisation with high expectations of students and staff, and a positive approach to internationalism, entrepreneurialism and innovation.
Our English department has transformed student outcomes and succeeded in inspiring a love of learning at GEMS World Academy - Dubai, through the dedication of staff, their exceptional subject knowledge, and the department’s forward-thinking approach to the curriculum. The department is highly regarded among our student body for the care and personal support offered to students. We are now looking to appoint a Director of Learning – English.
Genuine alignment with the philosophy of the IB and the values embodied in the Learner Profile are essential, as is a passion for working in our truly diverse and inclusive community. In addition, we seek a candidate with:
A certified professional teaching qualification at degree level, such as B. Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent with a specialism in English
A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Upper High School/Secondary English - ideally within an IB curriculum school, however this is not mandatory

GEMS FirstPoint School (FPS) opened in 2014 and is positioned in the heart of The Villa community in Dubai. JOB PURPOSE:
As the first contact person to the school, the receptionist ensures positive customers satisfaction during all interactions with existing and potential parents, visitors, staff and students.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provide the full range of information within the category requested (location, curriculum, admission procedure – including the booking of tours, tour information, administration, structure etc..) to ensure the delivery of a quality customer service experience to all callers or visitors to the school.
Respond to telephone calls and enquiries courteously and be able to direct calls to appropriate school personnel as part of the customer service provision for the school.
Relate courteously with visitors and provide the appropriate welcome to the school to ensure a positive customer service experience.
Maintain a caller and visitor database to track volumes on a monthly basis and act as a source of marketing for lead generation.
Complete administration and secretarial tasks as assigned to support the broader Front of House team to achieve their objectives.
Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
