Job Purpose
The MYP/DP Librarian will lead the Secondary School library as an academic learning and research centre. The role supports students and teachers across the Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme by developing research skills, information literacy, academic integrity, independent learning, and the effective use of print and digital resources.
The successful candidate will work closely with subject teachers, programme coordinators, and the Extended Essay Coordinator to ensure that library provision supports the curriculum and the academic needs of both MYP and DP students.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the daily operation and strategic development of the Secondary School library.

Create a purposeful academic environment that supports research, study, collaboration, and independent learning.

Teach research, information literacy, referencing, citation, and source-evaluation skills.

Support DP students with the Extended Essay, Internal Assessments, and other research-based assignments.

Promote academic integrity and educate students about plagiarism, copyright, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and ethical use of information.

Collaborate with MYP and DP teachers to plan inquiry-based lessons and identify appropriate resources.

Support the development of Approaches to Learning skills, particularly research, communication, and self-management.

Provide individual and small-group research guidance to students.

Develop and maintain a relevant collection of books, journals, databases, e-books, and other digital resources.

Ensure that resources reflect the curriculum, student interests, cultural diversity, and the international nature of the school community.

Manage library systems, cataloguing, circulation, subscriptions, purchasing, and stocktaking.

Use library data and student feedback to evaluate engagement and inform future development.

Promote reading for both academic development and personal enjoyment.

Organise author visits, reading initiatives, research workshops, and academic events.

Maintain an organised, welcoming, and appropriately supervised learning environment.

Ensure compliance with school safeguarding, health and safety, and data-protection requirements.

Participate in school events, professional development, and wider school activities.
المهارات
Qualifications and Experience
-
A recognised library, information-management, or teaching qualification is preferred.
-
Previous experience working in a secondary school, international school, university, or academic library.
-
Experience supporting IB MYP and/or DP students is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of the Extended Essay and IB academic-integrity expectations is desirable.

Experience using library-management systems, research databases, and digital learning resources.

Excellent written and spoken English.
