Social Worker

School social workers are trained mental health professionals who can assist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic, and classroom support, consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators as well as provide individual and group counseling/therapy.

• Meeting with students for crisis intervention
• Developing and teaching intervention strategies to help students achieve academic goals
• Helping students learn strong social skills, as well as strategies for conflict resolution and anger management
• Working with family members and other individuals in a child’s living situation to help support their adjustment, learning, and development 

   

   
• Providing consultation and training to administrators and school personnel related to the whole child, including behavior and classroom management, mental health, child abuse, and neglect, and other crises 

   

   
• Serving as advocates, counselors, and facilitators within the educational system. 

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), Master of Social Work (MSW), or even a Doctoral degree in social work
