About the Role

Eestablish and implement the company HR strategy, policies and processes so as to attract, motivate, reward and retain high calibre people to achieve the vision, mission and business strategy objectives.


  • Ensure GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are understood and followed at all times.
  • Implement GEMS HR strategy in line with the organisation vision, mission and business strategy and objectives, both long and short term.
  • Contribute to all initiatives to achieve the above vision, mission, strategy and objectives.
  • Responsible for overseeing and improving processes including on-boarding, Buddy Programme and off-boarding, including exit interviews.
  • Support the development, implementation and effective communication of HR policies and processes and implement processes which can be replicated globally.
  • Working with senior colleagues in KSA and with UAE counterparts, implement GEMS global HR processes and IT solutions in KSA
  • Develop a comprehensive HR-in-a-Box approach covering entire employee life cycle in Saudi Arabia.
  • Update current and design new sourcing and recruiting tools and procedures
  • Supervise the recruiting team and report on performance
  • Monitor recruiting metrics (e.g. time-to-hire and cost-per-hire)
  • Review recruitment software and suggest best option for company needs
  • Research and choose job advertising options
  • Coordinate with department managers to forecast future hiring needs
  • Stay up-to-date on labour legislation and liaise with HRDF
  • Build the company’s professional network through relationships with HR professionals, colleges and other partners
  • Develop, implement and run a quality induction programme for all new education and non-education employees, and support the roll-out of the Induction programme across the GEMS KSA network.
  • Preparation of documentation for new visa application (Govt approvals, MOL attestation, translation, visa requisition) and supporting joinees through the visa and on-boarding process
  • Preparation of monthly payroll updates (salary adjustments, bank account updates, new joinees, resignations, terminations, etc) in coordination with the Accounting Manager
  • Plan and coordinate with the Admin team for Medical examinations, Dependents’ visa sponsorship, Driver’s Licence, Medical insurance, etc.
  • Coordination of accommodation for new staff / transfer
  • HR database management - setting up and updating personal/MOL files for all staff
  • Coordinate visa cancellation (preparation of final settlement, exit preparation/schedule)
  • Responsible for resolving general Employee Relations issues in the GEMS Riyadh Office and schools.
  • Be a source of expertise and provide appropriate advice on the whole range of HR functions to Heads of Department and Schools including School HR meetings
  • Manage recruitment, induction, training and development of the school HR Officers to ensure consistent best practice across schools, and support the retention and talent management of these employees.
  • Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested by direct and dotted reporting line managers / supervisors.


  • Graduate degree, with post-graduate qualification in HRM. Broad HR knowledge and theory.
  • Knowledge of education sector preferred. Knowledgeable about labour legislation.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Drafting & conceptualisation skills.
  • A good implementer of major HR initiatives.
  • Literate in all basic PC and HRMIS skills.
  • Team leader able to make effective decisions quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in HR including recruitment. Education sector experience would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with social media and other professional networks.
  • Hands-on experience of Applicant Tracking Systems and HR databases
  • Fluent in Arabic
