About the Role

We are looking for a highly-skilled, ambitious Assistant Head of Primary with significant experience of working in an outstanding setting to join our Leadership Team, for an August 2023 start.

The successful candidate will have proven success in leading outstanding teaching and learning,  driving standards, be committed to the pursuit of excellence and be able to effectively lead and embed rigorous accountability procedures. The successful applicant will assist in shaping & implementing the educational strategy for the school.

 

Key Accountabilities

∙       Model and encourage a culture of kindness and respect in support of the school core values

∙       Guide learner behaviour and character development through policy creation and practice

∙       Undertake the role of staff-learner relations’ officer, specifically monitoring learners’ personal and social/emotional development, attending to changes in personal circumstances, academic progress, and general well being

∙       Willingness to be a “mentor” to all at the school as well as encourage their professional growth and career advancement.

∙       Communicate effectively with learners, staff, parents, colleagues and in the community (i.e. verbal, nonverbal and written communication)

∙       Seek the involvement of  parents in a wide variety of school activities

∙       Assist in developing the leadership capabilities of teachers so that instructional leadership becomes a shared responsibility

∙       Assist in assessing achievement results to determine whether curriculum and instructional goals and learner performance outcomes are being met

∙       Promote an efficient, productive and caring campus atmosphere where all learners (and school) have opportunity to be recognised for their best efforts

∙       Demonstrate personal commitment to seek constant professional learning and professional growth and to be a life-long learner

∙       Accept the importance and necessity to support the after-school learner activity programs and Parent Association events

∙       Assist in the responsibility for the “mechanics” of the assignment; activities such as accurate record keeping, office accounting, etc.

∙       Support and participate in committee work

∙       Review all learner admission applications as requested and in accordance with policies established by school policy and implementing regulations with the Head of School

∙       Serve as a positive, contributing member to the School Leadership Team, supporting policy and practice that is best for learner learners

∙       Assist in the screening, interviewing, and hiring process of personnel as requested

∙       Identify, facilitate and encourage professional development opportunities

∙       Attend conference meetings as appropriate

∙       Assist with new school induction and orientation processes

∙       Prepare effectively for any conference or accreditation evaluation visits

∙       Manage and develop staff in accordance with school’s continual professional development strategy.

∙       Demonstrate outstanding teaching skills which leads to excellent results and outcomes.

∙       Demonstrate excellent and innovative pedagogical practice, including the use of educational technology.

∙       Coach and mentor staff, providing advice and feedback.

∙       Assess and monitor learner progress, implementing impact plans where necessary.

∙       Manage the department budget and resources.

∙       Prepare for the school Inspection in accordance with criteria and follow through with action plan.

 

The successful applicant will be:

• A fully certified teacher, holding a B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent

• Passionate about providing outstanding teaching and learning

• Highly experienced in the National Curriculum of England

• Efficient in people development and have proven leadership and communication abilities
