* Deliver the required curriculum; demonstrating accurate and up to date knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
* Plan and deliver quality lessons to motivate students. Create and utilise appropriate materials and the classroom environment to cater for different learning styles.
* Show written evidence of planning and preparation on request. Establish and maintain records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans etc.
* Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
* Teach students assigned according to their individual needs using appropriate teaching strategies that meet student needs and abilities eg late-entering students, ESL, low academic ability, gifted and talented etc.
* Set and mark work. Assess, record and report on the academic development, progress and attainment of students and use assessment to ensure the curriculum meets the individual student’s needs.
* Display competence in using media and technology in the classroom.
* Promote the general progress and well-being of students and provide guidance to students on educational matters.
* Communicate with persons outside the school where appropriate (eg Ministry of Education officials).
* Participate in appraisal and Performance Management procedures and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Work alongside colleagues on the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, courses of study and pastoral arrangements.
* Participate in, and lead where appropriate, the co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes in the school. Promote good working relationships through active leadership and sharing of ideas, materials and experiences.
* Monitor and supervise safe and appropriate student behavior. Plan and implement strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive behavior.
* Model and encourage cultural awareness and understanding and promote a love of learning.
* Assist in the planning and organising of school events and functions (eg inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days etc).
* Communicate and meet with parents regularly promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents regularly informed of students’ progress while respecting the confidentiality of student-related information

Qualifications:
KG/ Primary / Secondary - Bachelors in Arts / Science along with Bachelors in Education, both degrees in the same teaching subject Example - BA + B.Ed or B.Sc + B.Ed (None of the above degrees must be through distance, correspondence or from an open university) Senior Secondary- Bachelors & Masters in Arts or Science along with Bachelors in Education, degrees should be in the same teaching subject Example - BA & MA + B.Ed or B.Sc & M.Sc + B.Ed (None of the above degrees must be through distance, correspondence or from an open university) Specialist subjects teachers such as Dance, Music, Special Education Needs, Art, French etc will require a specialist qualification in the teaching subject. 2 years of school teaching experience required for all of the above.

Be available to students and staff to address their immediate medical needs, providing a source of medical advice.
Maintain comprehensive medical records of all students as regulated by the Ministry of Health.
Establish procedures for providing first aid in cases of accidents or illness on the school campus or during school functions.
Refer accidents or illness appropriately to the school doctor or hospitals, and inform parents and the school Principal.
Be present for all student related activities on campus.
Keep up to date with current medical practices and regulations, as prescribed by Governmental authorities.

The Academy
GEMS World Academy-Dubai (GWA) is a private, co-educational IB World School for PreK to Grade 12 students. THE ROLE
We are now looking for innovative MYP Dance Teacher to join this successful team in February 2025. - To provide learning support in 1:1 situation.
- To develop knowledge of the particular needs of the child and seek advice from the SENCo, class teacher and outside agencies as required.
- To aid access to the full range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom and provide modified materials as required e.g. worksheets, games, visual prompt cards etc.
- To make or modify resources as suggested and advised by the SENCo, Educational Psychologist or other outside agencies.
- To organize and maintain an inclusive learning environment across the whole school environment.
- Provide positive reinforcements, praise and rewards to pupils.
- Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with peers and support interaction between them.
- To attend in service training and relevant meetings relevant to the post in order to keep up to date with developments in working with children with special educational needs.
- To attend planning meetings with the SENCo to develop learning programs and to assist in the delivery of the individual learning programs on a daily basis to promote learning,behaviour and communication skills.
Accountabilities:
• Work strategically with colleagues to lead and deliver an efficient Secondary School timetable, ensuring effective deployment of staff, allocation of rooms and other resources.• Lead and quality assure Secondary School assessment systems and processes, ensuring consistency of application and approach across subject areas. Work with Heads of Department to ensure assessment system enables effective analysis of attainment and progress of students.• Through liaison with Heads of Year and Heads of Department, ensure students in Years 7-13, achieve the highest possible outcomes with regard to academic attainment and progress, highlighting subject-specific and cross-subject student underachievement to appropriate stakeholders.• Develop reporting systems for all stakeholders to ensure moment, granular-level analysis of student performance is available to parents, students’ teachers and school leaders, alongside scheduled summative reports to parents.• Collaborate with the school’s Admissions department, pastoral and academic leaders in leading the allocation of Secondary School students to classes, ensuring an even distribution of academic, pastoral, gender profiles across classes.• Lead, consult and compile the annual assessment calendar, ensuring general awareness of dates, booking of resources and coordination with concerned teams. Ensure the assessment calendar is represented within the whole-school calendar reporting.• Oversee and administer the scheduling, rooming and invigilation of internal and external examinations. Collect and quality assure subject examination requirements, storage & distribution of papers, working with heads of department as necessary. Lead, meet and support the Examinations Officer in executing his/her duties as necessary.• Work with Primary School counterparts to ensure the ECA programme is broad in nature, appropriately staffed and distributed across the school week.• Manage the daily staff absence and cover process for Secondary School lessons. Develop a comprehensive cover rota that prioritises assignment based on key factors including teaching load and subject specialism.• Lead the organisation in all aspects of Secondary School Academic Review Days and Parents Evenings. Ensure parents are communicated with in a timely fashion to facilitate booking of appointments.• Lead in balancing staff workloads across timetabled lessons, ECA commitments, duties, cover and examination invigilation.• Lead and administer benchmarking assessments including CAT4, GL Progress Tests, PASS, PISA, PIRLS, and TIMSS, ensuring regulatory requirements are consistently met. Develop processes to ensure students are prepared for assessments, the results of which are incorporated within the holistic assessment system.• Attend school-based Local Advisory Board meetings as necessary and play an active role in the National Agenda Priorities Sub-Committee, driving improvement within this area.• Proactively work with colleagues to ensure the school meets and exceeds its UAE National Agenda targets.Other Responsibilities• Collaborate with the Secondary School Leadership Team, to assist in the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of teaching staff. Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness as necessary.• Collaborate with the Secondary School Leadership Team and curriculum coordinators to review, develop, implement, and evaluate the curriculum.• Collaborate with colleagues within the Senior School and broader school community. Participate in professional development activities, contribute to the school's professional learning community, and share best practices to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.• Contribute effectively to the school’s strategic improvement planning, actively leading in areas pertinent to this job description, while supporting wider school development.
