HR Manager

We are looking to appoint an experienced HR Manager. The position will be based in the school and reports directly to the School Principal/CEO.  The position also has a functional reporting line to the HR Business Partner (based in the GEMS School Support Centre).   The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of the Human Resources function within the school.  This will involve managing the full employee life-cycle including managing school recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, employee engagement, performance management and employee separations.  The HR Officer will also manage and oversee the implementation and compliance with all GEMS Human Resources policies, procedures and systems.  Main responsibilities will include the following: The School HR Manager will be the first point of contact for all school staff on all HR matters covering the full spectrum of the employee life cycle. Recruitment and Onboarding Liaise with the SSC Teacher Recruitment team to ensure all vacancies are advertised and filled in a timely manner. Prepare all offers of employment and employment contracts for selected candidates. Support and communicate effectively with new employees during the pre-hire onboarding period to ensure a smooth and effective joining process Design and conduct new employee orientations to explain school and HR policies, benefit programs, code of conduct, etc. Administer and explain insurance benefits to employees, serve as liaison between employees and insurance carriers. Support employees with insurance related and medical issues.  Support all school staff with visa processing and any other regulatory requirements Produce NOCs, salary certificates and salary transfer letters in English and Arabic as required on a timely basis.  Employee Relations Support the Principal/CEO in managing Employee Relations issues - with support from HR Business Partner as required - including performance issues, disciplinaries, grievances and terminations. Ensure employee relations issues are handled effectively in accordance with UAE Labour Law and GEMS Policy and procedures to mitigate risk to the company, and to ensure an effective and consistent HR provision within the school Be the first point of contact for all employees on employee relations issues Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries Lead on investigations as required on a case-by-case basis for all employee relations issues as requested and directed by Management. Ensure investigations are completed effectively and in timely manner and documented as per GEMS policy and procedures Act as a counsellor to employees as and when required, supporting employees with work-related issues Be a positive role model for all school employees, acting as an employee engagement champion in school. Compliance Manage all day to day operations of the Human Resources school office. Manage and oversee Human Resources policies, procedures and systems to ensure consistency and compliance Advise and support the Principal/CEO and the School Leadership team on UAE Labour law regulations and compliance. Be a source of expertise within school on issues relating to Employment Law, HR Policies and Human Resources best practice Maintain all personal files of employees in coordination with the PRO and Ministry of Labour/Education requirements and in accordance with GEMS Compliance guidelines and audit criteria Participate in HR Audits and lead on responsibility for post-Audit Action Plan to address areas of improvements in Compliance  Separations Manage the separations process from start to finish with all employees following resignation or termination. Provide Principal/CEO with guidance on Labour Law regulations in regards to separations processes. Liaise with employees identified as leavers to collate exit documentation required and to coordinate clearance procedures. Conduct an exit interview (online and face-to-face) with all leavers, gather exit interview data on a regular basis and present this to the Principal for review Ensure the visa cancellation is completed for leavers where necessary General support Assist and prepare statistical summaries and reports for school and the GEMS School Support Centre Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required Engage with other School HR Managers in a productive and solutions-focused manner, sharing best practice ideas and positive ways of working Complete any ad-hoc HR project work as and when required by the Principal and/or the HR Business Partner.
