AS & A Level Biology Teacher - Maternity Cover

1. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Biology lessons that meet AS and A Level curriculum requirements.
2. Use a variety of instructional strategies, practical investigations, and technology to enhance learning.
3. Develop and implement assessments (formative and summative) that monitor progress and prepare students for exams.
4. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including high achievers and those needing additional support.
5. Ensure lessons align with the curriculum specifications and examination board standards.
6. Participate in internal standardization and moderation processes.
7. Update and maintain accurate student records, grades, and reports.
8. Implement school policies on discipline, attendance, and safeguarding.
9. Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and school improvement initiatives.
10. Stay current with developments in Biology, pedagogy, and assessment practices.
11. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science Department to plan schemes of work and share best practices.
12. Contribute to extracurricular science activities, clubs, competitions, or field trips.
13. Promote the general progress and well-being of students and provide guidance to students on educational matters.
14. Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Bachelors and Masters degree in Biology or a related scientific field.
2. Teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or equivalent).
3. Experience teaching AS and A Level Biology or equivalent senior secondary curriculum.
4. Strong knowledge of the subject and practical laboratory skills.
