Business Studies and Economics Teacher

We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and dedicated Business and Economics Teacher to join our secondary school team.

• Plan and deliver high-quality Business and Economics lessons in accordance with the British Curriculum.

• Teach relevant GCSE and/or A Level Business and Economics courses, depending on experience and timetable requirements.

• Develop engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, analysis, and application of business and economic concepts.

• Use a range of effective teaching strategies and resources to meet the needs of students with different abilities and learning styles.

• Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive and timely feedback.

• Prepare students effectively for internal and external examinations.

• Maintain accurate records of student achievement, progress, and assessment.

• Use assessment data to identify learning gaps and implement appropriate intervention and support.

• Encourage students to apply theoretical concepts to real-world business and economic situations.

• Incorporate current affairs, business news, case studies, and contemporary economic issues into lessons where appropriate.

• Support the development and review of schemes of work, assessments, and departmental resources.

• Contribute positively to departmental planning and collaborative activities.

• Maintain high standards of classroom management and student behaviour.

• Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

• Participate in school events, meetings, professional development, and wider school activities.

• Support the school's commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and an inclusive learning environment.

BTEC / Vocational Experience

Experience with BTEC Business or other vocational business qualifications would be an added advantage. Candidates with BTEC experience may be expected to:

• Deliver BTEC Business units effectively.

• Understand vocational assessment requirements and internal verification processes.

• Support students with assignments, coursework, and applied business projects.

• Provide appropriate guidance and feedback to help students meet assessment criteria.

• Maintain accurate assessment and tracking documentation.
  
  

Qualifications and Experience:

• A relevant degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience teaching Business and/or Economics within a secondary school setting.

• Strong knowledge of the British Curriculum, particularly GCSE and/or A Level specifications.

• Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to relate theory to real-world business and economic contexts.

• Strong classroom management and communication skills.

• Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.

Preferred:

• Experience teaching BTEC Business or other vocational qualifications.

• Experience with GCSE and/or A Level examination preparation.

• Experience teaching across a range of secondary year groups.

• Familiarity with different British examination boards such as Pearson Edexcel, AQA, or Cambridge International.

• Experience using technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.

• Experience working in an international or multicultural school environment.
