We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Department – Business and Economics to lead our department and join our team from August 2026.

Skills
The successful candidate will have:
• A B.Ed or subject-related degree, together with a PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification
• Proven experience teaching Business and Economics at secondary level, including IGCSE and A Level or equivalent
• Experience as a Head of Department or the readiness to step into a departmental leadership role
• A strong track record of outstanding classroom practice and the ability to model and share this across the department
• The ability to lead curriculum development, assessment, and data-informed improvement strategies
• A clear commitment to raising achievement and standards across Business and Economics
• A strong interest in leadership development, professional growth, and sustainability in education
• A creative, enthusiastic, and student-centred approach both within and beyond the classroom
• Excellent IT, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

GEMS METROPOLE SCHOOL - MOTOR CITY
GEMS Metropole School, located in Motor City in Dubai, opened its doors in September 2014 and has continued to flourish and grow in student number and stature. The school is now open to students from FS1 to Year 13 with an all-through school capacity of 4200 students offering the National Curriculum for England. The school has become well-known for their key areas of success, such as a strong community approach to education, highly inclusive school support to strong secondary options at Key Stage 4 and academic and vocational choices at Key Stage 5. In addition, the school has well-equipped classrooms, a highly competitive sports department, a farm, digital media rooms, innovation laboratories, dedicated science labs, music, art rooms and libraries. Students from our Foundation Stage classes have access to attractive indoor and outdoor learning areas to explore and investigate, high quality Information Technology provision and Science provision to develop IT and Science-based literacy, and most recently a language hub to support key language skills across school.
