The role:
Due to the continued success of our new school, GEMS Founders School, Masdar City, we are seeking to recruit a Head of Science (Physics expertise) available for January 2026.
Join a dynamic and collaborative Science team at GEMS Founders School – Masdar City, where specialist laboratories, equipment and innovation spaces bring biology, chemistry and physics to life. Teachers work together to plan practical investigations, share resources and connect scientific learning to sustainability, technology and real-world challenges. The department combines high expectations with professional support, giving colleagues opportunities to contribute ideas, develop their practice and inspire curiosity. Students build knowledge, practical expertise and confidence through experimentation, enquiry and evidence-based thinking. This is an opportunity to help shape future scientists, engineers and problem-solvers as they progress towards GCSE study and beyond.
About our school
GEMS Founders School – Masdar City opened its doors in 2024 as the first GEMS Founders school in Abu Dhabi, delivering the National Curriculum for England within a modern, innovative and purpose-built campus. The school currently welcomes students from Foundation Stage through to Year 10, with plans to continue expanding year-on-year. Skills Description
Succesful candidates will have:
- Bachelors degree in Science or related field, alongside a recognized teaching qualification with Qualified Teacher Status.
- A genuine passion for Physics and strong subject knowledge.
- A minimum 4+ years teaching experience, with some additional leadership responsibilities.
- Strong subject knowledge of effective teaching, assesment and differentiation strategies to support the progress and achievment of all students.
