GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Year 12 from August 2026. The successful candidate will lead the Year 12 cohort.
Job Purpose:
The Head of Year 12 leads the academic and pastoral development of students in their first year of secondary school. The role focuses on establishing strong routines, high expectations and a supportive environment where pupils develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the pastoral care and wellbeing of the Year 12 cohort.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and engagement.
- Monitor academic progress and coordinate interventions where needed.
- Support and line manage Year 12 form tutors.
- Build strong relationships with parents and communicate effectively.
- Promote a positive year group culture through enrichment and student participation.
- Track attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, ensuring timely support.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and compliance.
- Contribute to whole-school priorities and initiatives.
Skills
- Proven leadership experience within a school setting.
- Strong understanding of pastoral care and student development.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and support staff effectively.
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; further qualifications desirable.
