Key Responsibilities
Library Management
- Organize, maintain, and manage the primary school library collection (books, digital resources, and multimedia).
- Ensure cataloguing, classification, and circulation systems are up to date.
- Monitor inventory, conduct regular audits, and recommend new acquisitions aligned with CBSE guidelines.
- Maintain a welcoming, safe, and engaging library environment.
Curriculum Support
- Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum delivery through library resources.
- Assist in planning and delivering library sessions that build research and information literacy skills.
- Support project-based learning and reading programs aligned with CBSE standards.
Student Engagement
- Encourage reading habits through storytelling sessions, book talks, and reading challenges.
- Guide students in selecting appropriate reading materials based on age and ability.
- Develop initiatives such as reading weeks, author visits, and literary events.
Digital Literacy
- Introduce students to basic research skills and responsible use of information.
- Support the use of digital tools, e-books, and online learning platforms.
Administration
- Maintain records of book circulation, student usage, and resource updates.
- Manage library budgets in coordination with school leadership.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and KHDA (Knowledge and Human Development Authority) guidelines.
Skills
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a librarian, preferably in a school following CBSE or similar curriculum.
- Familiarity with library management systems and digital cataloguing tools.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for children’s literature and literacy development.
- Knowledge of KHDA standards is an advantage.
