Job Summary
The Economics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in accordance with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum for Grades XI and XII. The role involves fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and an understanding of economic principles while preparing students for CBSE Board Examinations. The teacher is expected to create an engaging learning environment, integrate technology into teaching, contribute to school initiatives, and support students' academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Economics lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum.
- Teach Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Indian Economic Development, and Statistics for Economics as prescribed by CBSE.
- Develop lesson plans that promote conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and application-based learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Incorporate ICT tools, digital resources, and interactive teaching methodologies.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Prepare students for CBSE Board Examinations through structured revision plans, practice tests, and exam strategies.
- Maintain accurate academic records, assessment data, and student portfolios.
- Analyze assessment results and implement interventions to improve student achievement.
Student Development
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
- Mentor students academically and support their overall well-being.
- Encourage participation in commerce clubs, debates, quizzes, Model United Nations (MUN), entrepreneurship activities, and economics-related competitions.
- Identify students requiring additional academic support and provide remedial instruction where necessary.
Curriculum & Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in curriculum planning, review, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Stay updated with CBSE curriculum changes, assessment patterns, and educational best practices.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and training sessions.
- Contribute to school accreditation, inspections, and quality assurance processes.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and academic performance.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events.
- Build positive relationships with parents and the wider school community.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain classroom discipline in accordance with school policies.
- Prepare required reports, examination papers, question banks, and instructional materials.
- Support school events, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and assigned supervisory duties.
Skills
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Economics (M.A. Economics) or equivalent.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Teaching license or eligibility as per UAE regulatory requirements (where applicable).
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience in Economics at the senior secondary level.
- Experience teaching the CBSE curriculum is preferred.
- Experience in UAE schools is an advantage.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong subject knowledge in Economics.
- Thorough understanding of CBSE curriculum and assessment standards.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural environment.
